How do you get to Beckfoot?
That really depends on where you live. There are three service buses that go past school - the 662 (Bradford to Keighley, every ten minutes), the 622/623 (Bradford to Eldwick, every twenty minutes) and the 760 (Leeds to Keighley, every thirty minutes) - as well as a lot of school buses every morning and afternoon. If you live nearby, you could walk, and some people cycle to school. Finally, if you live near a train station, there are trains at least every thirty minutes from most places to Bingley - it's only a ten-minute walk then to school, along the main road.

What lessons do you have? Which are the fun lessons?
In Year 7, you have English, Maths, Science, Music, Drama, Art, PE, ICT, D&T (Technology), a language (French or German) and 'Humanities' (History, Geography and RE). As for the fun lessons, that really depends on what you like doing - D&T is often good, because you get to make much better things than in primary school, but I can't think of a lesson that I didn't enjoy in Year 7.

What do you do if a person gets bullied?
The first person (in school) to tell is your form tutor, or your head of year. They should be able to deal with the bully, but keep going to them if he/she keeps on being unpleasant. Teachers at Beckfoot won't just ignore bullying, as long as they know it is happening - the most important thing is to tell a teacher.

What clubs are there at Beckfoot?
Lots! Almost every subject has at least one club; PE and Music have a lot of activities you can take part in. There is also a Student Council, the SLG, and plenty more of what we call 'Student Leadership' Groups, where you can have a real chance to have your say about life in Beckfoot.

If your phone goes off in a lesson do you get it taken off you and for how long?
Yes, your phone will be taken off you, until the end of the week - you can pick it up from the teacher who took it last thing on a Friday afternoon. You might also get a code in your Learning Journal - that's just a letter that's written on the page to let your parents/form tutor know that you've done something wrong in a lesson.

If you feel lost what can you do?
Well, every student at Beckfoot has a map in their Learning Journal, which you'll get on your first day here. That has all the rooms marked on it, so you can find your way around. There are also always teachers on the corridor who you could ask if you can't find your way to your next lesson. If you're a bit late to your lesson nobody will mind for the first couple of weeks.
